Deepen your yoga practice through principles of anatomy, physiology, and biomechanics. The focus will be on expanding your knowledge and understanding of your own body in motion as well as technical skills and progressions based on your individual prerequisites.
You should have a regular yoga practice. It doesn't matter if you have previous knowledge in anatomy, physiology, or biomechanics.
We’ll go over
Anatomy, Physiology, and Biomechanics of the spine, hips, and shoulders
Mobility and creating health joints and bodily structures
Practical application to yoga asana
The focus during this workshop will be on the physical practice and not the theory.
You will leave with a deeper understanding of the shoulders that you can apply to your own practice.
Welcome to an explorative and proactive approach to yoga asana practice.
Spine - part 1
How often have you heard your yoga teacher instruct ‘vertebrae by vertebrae’? I guess quite often. During these hours together we are going to dive deep into what it actually means to move ‘vertebrae by vertebrae’ and how you can update your spine-knowledge. We’ll explore the natural movements of the spine, and how you can take care of your spine in the best possible way with an intelligently thought through yoga practice.

About Sara Ström
The body is an interesting thing. My view on it is holistic, I see it as one unit. My teaching is about understanding the body and its movements through the studies and practice of yoga, anatomy, and kinesiology. I believe physical practice should be individually tailored to the person and the body that performs it, not the other way around. The aim is to enjoy the body that we live with every day. I want my classes and workshops to be a place where body and spirit are nourished and strengthened, and I hope to inspire through the joy of movement.
For the last 10 years I have been working with yoga and movement training, most recently as one of the head teachers at the yoga teacher trainings at The Nordic Yoga Institute. I'm also part of team Yogobe where I teach online classes and contribute with content on related topics. As a yoga teacher my greatest joy is leading teacher trainings, courses, and workshops.
As you might have guessed already, I’m kind of a nerd when it comes to health education. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Public Health from Karolinska Institutet in Stockholm and I’m currently studying a Master’s degree in Biomechanics and Physiology at The Swedish School of Sport and Health Sciences. I’ve also studied movement analysis and kinesiology at an advanced university level, most currently at Karolinska Institutet.
I am ERYT-200 & RYT-500 certified in Virya Yoga, a licensed Personal Trainer and FRC™ Mobility Specialist.
Most of all I’m passionate about learning, practicing, and sharing the insights.
